Scoff is a vegan sweet maker and bakery based in Bristol. Our mission is to provide delicious treats that just happen to be vegan and free from gluten containing ingredients. If you’re vegan or have food intolerances, we don’t think you should have to miss out on the kind of treats everyone else gets to enjoy. In fact, if we weren’t telling you, you probably wouldn’t even realise Scoff products don’t contain eggs, dairy or wheat.
During the 16 years she’s been vegan, founder Jane Hersey has witnessed a welcome explosion in the choice and quality of food she can eat. But fellow vegans will know when it comes to sweet stuff, many cravings just can’t be satisfied: A quick read of the ingredients will flag up a stray and unnecessary bit of whey powder here, gelatine there...
Well Scoff has set out to solve that and we are also inviting people with food allergies or intolerances to the party. People avoiding wheat, gluten, eggs and dairy can eat everything we make. We also have a range of indulgences for people who are off soya.

Scoff’s fudge and chocolate truffles are for sale in a range of flavours online, and we plan to bring out new treats all the time.
You’ll be able to find us selling a selection of goodies at markets in Bristol. Sometimes this may be the fudge and truffles, other times we may also be selling cakes and cookies. See the Find Us section of the website for up to date details of markets we’re attending and what we’ll be selling.
We take custom orders for parties or other special occasions. You can order any of our cakes for delivery in the Bristol area. We will work with you to come up with a bespoke cake design that meets your needs. We can also supply fudge or truffles as wedding favours.
We work hard to make sure that our products are suitable for as many people as possible.
Animal products - The Scoff kitchen is a completely vegan kitchen. That is to say that we are free from dairy, eggs, and other animal products. This means all our products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
Dairy and eggs – we do not use any ingredients in our products that contain any dairy or eggs, even if they would just be small traces. Therefore our products are suitable for those with allergies to these items.
Wheat and gluten – we do not use any ingredients containing wheat or gluten (even traces) in our products. However, as we are a small business, our kitchen is shared and sometimes wheat products are used. Despite this, we feel confident saying that our products are free from gluten, as all necessary measures are taken to clean down the kitchen to avoid cross contamination.
Nuts – many of our products don’t contain nuts, but some do. Those that contain nuts are clearly marked. Measures are taken to ensure there is no cross contamination but there is a possibility trace amounts may be transferred.
Scoff does its best to operate as an ethical company.
- As a completely vegan company we avoid the animal cruelty inherent in the modern farming industry.
- We use Fairtrade products wherever possible, in particular our sugar and cocoa.
- Operations are managed in order to reduce waste as much as possible.
- We choose products that have minimal packaging and recycle or compost whenever we can.
- Energy saving is important to us, our kitchen appliances are all A rated and we take measures to ensure that they are used as efficiently as possible. Our electricity supply is on a green tariff.
